I know that this is late in answering but one of the best way to get rid of the burs, is next time when mowing the lawn use a bag to catch the grass and throw that away!,don't compost it ,it's not worth it.Then after you do this 2-3 times go out with a shovel and dig up the stem and replant with your choice of grass seed.
