Post subject: Test with garlic placed in shoe for Science Project
Posted: Sun Sep 21, 2003 1:10 pm
We are doing a science project on something Dr. Dirt talked about on his show a while back. I need more information on this subject.
He talked about placing a piece of garlic in your shoe and in about 10 minutes you would taste the garlic in your mouth. This shows how pesticides get into your body thru your skin.
Any ideas on how to do this or how to do measurements for data? Apprciate any help.
Here are some ideas: Try using different sizes of cloves for each person and measuring the time it takes for them to taste the garlic. Peel them so that the soft part with the oils are actually touching the skin, rather than the dried outside. Try it on yourself a few times to see how long it takes you for a baseline measurement so you'll know how long to plan for the experiment. Have fun!
