I am curious about the compost made from tires. Is this a good or bad thing?

Are you talking about composting "rubber tires", or are you talking about composting nitrogen and carbon organic matter materials (i.e. plant and/or animal matter) inside of a compost bin made from rubber tires?

We play at a park that has shedded tire mulch. Great recycling, and it doesn't come home in the kids' shoes as much as gravel or shredded bark!

Possibly OK for playgrounds but a terribe mulch for growing plants. Even in the playgrounds there is a concern. There are quite a number of harsh chemicals in tires.
