I have a tree that is 10-12 inches from my house foundation and about 40 inches from my swimming pool. There is nothing else to do but cut it down. Right? It will eventually crack the foundation and the pool. I just need some confirmation. I will miss the shade but what else can I do. I think it is a crape myrtle. Please advise. :(

I don't know if it will harm the pool with it's roots, it probably won't bother the house. But I imagine all of the leaves in the pool would be an annoyance for staining the pool and messing up the filter.

Crepe myrtle can get pretty large, unless you prune it, but you can prune it. Why don't you post a photo?
