I tilled the soil 2 to 3 inches deep;have watered the area twice; watered last night and laid the sod this morning. The sod was fresh and still had a moist back.

The nursery I purchased the sod from provided information:

Water the new sod today until it is squishey (did that)
Water 4 to 7 days three times a day (10am, 2pm, 5pm) no amount of time was indicated to I assume 20 minutes per time slot.
After 7 days decrease watering until no more than 1" of water per week.

No details on the watering cutback.

Any information? Totally organic for the past 12 years, NO CHEMICALS, I pull a lot of weeds.

If you are pulling a lot of weeds, something is wrong and most likely with your watering.

Watering should be done deeply and infrequently. Deep means one inch all at one time. Infrequent means once per week in the hottest heat of summer, once every 2 weeks after it cools off. Once every 3 weeks with temps in the 70s. And once per month with temps in the 60s or lower. When you water every day or multiple times per week, the weed seeds get plenty of water to germinate. When you withhold water like this, the surface of the soil dries out and the weed seeds cannot germinate.
