I always thought when you have fungus the grass turns brown in distinct spots on the grass.

What I have, it seems, are random runners of grass just dying throughout the grass, not in any distinct spots(I have Bermuda). Some areas are worse than others, but the green grass just seems to be outnumbered by a thick mat of dead runners that lurks just under the thin mat of growing grass.

In the forementioned areas I have a horrible problem with roundleaf spurge. When I was pulling it up yesterday, I noticed much of the grass was coming up very easily, like the roots had been decayed, even some of the green grass came up pretty easily. Does anyone know what this is? Doesn't look like fungus or grubworms, what else might it be?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks -Ziroth
