I pulled up all my peas and beans because they were eaten alive by something. Do I really have to throw them away or can I leave them to cover a dormant part of my veg garden this fall/winter and work them into the soil later. Don't want to spread disease, or more bugs,....I just read not to compost stuff like this. I'm not sure I can bear to throw all this green stuff away!

That makes great ingredients to the compost pile. It is easier to till in the garden if you grind it up first, from my past experiences.
