Long story short, I've been out of town for weeks and the wife went to help her sister a couple weeks before I got back. She took the dogs with her as well. I get home and there are fleas everywhere! It is so bad an infestation, I can literally see them on the kitchen floor (vinyl tile) in droves. Upon walking from the front door to the kitchen (a mere 12 feet), I had 40 or 50 jump on my legs - actually, I lost count around 30. Needless to say, I didn't stay in the house too long at all.
I need a plan of action to get rid of these critters short of bombing my house. Although, I am very tempted with the numbers I am dealing with on this one.
I noticed on the library that Howard mentions using D-Limonene (sp?) spray on the furniture. What strength, though? Would it be the strength as the fire ant drench, but just used in a spray bottle?
I already know I am going to have to wash down everything and put all fabrics through the wash just in case. I'm also guessing I should start with liberal coating of DE on the carpets in all rooms and maybe even the beds and sofa/chairs.
Are there any scents fleas don't like? One thing I thought of was since many pests don't like pennyroyal, I would try to find mint scented candles and burn them to help. Has anyone tried anything like that or is it just wishful thinking?
