My double "Knock-out" roses have almost no foliage left! Have 2 bushes in front of our house..not under any trees. It seems like overnight that the foliage eaten. When checking, I found many very large, bright green, fuzzy caterpillars munching away. I remove by hand..and they seem to hang-on tight..have to pull them off. Never have used any chemicals on our property..all organic..including mulch under roses. These hungry guys are also on my rebud tree. which is about 6 feet away from the roses. We have a butterfly/hummingbird garden in front of our property where many swallowtail always love the fennel/parsley..but these other caterpillars are different..soft bodies under the fuzz..no horns...also a white/red stripe along underside of body. First year this has happened.
HELP please....identify..control???
Any info. appreciated..
Thanks,
Lelani

can you get any pictures? Go to www.dallasbutterflies.com to see if you can find the caterpillar. You can spray them with an orange oil/water solution or hand pick them like you have done. It's that time of year where they need to get big and fat for the big change.
