I have read that commercial asparagus farmers in the north east, spray Roundup on their beds to control the weeds. Done, of course, before the asparagus emerges in the Spring.
Well, I have a two year old bed of asparagus that got ignored last Summer due to other projects, and it is solid thistle type weeds. My question is; is spraying with vinegar, orange oil, and dish soap safe? The asparagus has not emerged yet, but it will any day now. I want to get rid of the weeds, but I had my mouth set for some asparagus this year!

Yes, it safe to use before the asparagus emerges.

My asparagus started coming up a couple of weeks ago. I don't have that large of an area (though I picked up some more this year to plant soon) so I'll hand weed. And eat. :)
