We just moved into a new home, and my office is upstairs. I was surprised to see Ruby-crowned Kinglets and Yellow-rumped Warblers working the window screens for insects. I have started spreading a few sunflower hearts and parts on the window ledge. Visitors in the last few days:

Dark-eyed Junco
House Finch
Orange-crowned Warbler (lust looking, I think)
Northern Mockingbird

And this morning, a beautiful male Northern Cardinal.

Its fun to see these birds at a distance of about 3 feet from my computer screen. Think I'll add a little suet to the offering.

Walking 'Honey' the 'regal' this am down an alley in N. Plano we saw some squirrels...Honey's favorite...then a HAWK swooped down and nearly caught one! Then flew to the top of an oak.

Hawks are just the coolest! I saw a sharp-shinned Hawk catch a dove in my backyard. Just part of the circle...

Seems like I am tuned in with Red-tailed Hawks lately. A pair has been flying behind my home. In the past week I have also seen Red-tails stoop onto something along the side of a highway, maybe a mouse or rat.

Several years ago I got to see what I guess was part of the mating ritual for hawks, one was just circling around while the other was putting on an airshow. I watch for hawks everywhere I go, last year I saw one hovering between 183 and the service road in Irving he came up with about a 2' long snake. They are great to watch.

Twicw in the last 2 weeks I have witnessed a hawk taking a sparrow or dove from my backyard. I also installed a large suet feeder outside my home office window. So far, I have seen many visits from my favorite irds, Carolina Wrens.
