What is the proper way to prune a range peach? My yard person (an avid follower of yours) said you should prune from the top. Is this correct? What time of the year should you prune? This is my grandson's tree, and I do not want to kill it. It is approximately three years old now and threw its peaches this year.

All fruit trees I prefer to prune in the late winter or early spring just before bud break. Also I only prune where absolutely necessary. Remember- pruning is mostly for your sake, not the trees'.

Right now, high summer coming on, I'd not prune anything. At the least I'd wait until Fall.
