About 2 months ago, I purchased several Japanese Maple seedlings on the internet. Most are acer palmatum atropupureum, but there were a few different varieties included as well. When they arrived, most had lost their foliage. The tallest one is about 16" tall (never lost its leaves) and is in the best health. The person I bought them from said they lost their leaves for the winter (they came from up north) and that new growth would show up soon. There are three that had new growth show up within a few weeks, but the others have not grown a single leaf. They all have very large buds where the old leaves fell off. I planted them in our native clay soil with a good mixture of TX greensand, lava sand, and some cornmeal. I have been spraying the foliage once a week with Garrett Juice and orange oil, and keeping them moist. Am I just being impatient, or should they all be growing leaves by now???????

I'd wait to seee what they look like in the spring, honestly.

They sound like they're down for winter. If you've got buds and if you scratch the back and find green, it's alive.
