I have a older red oak tree that has ping pong size whitish, hard balls that are dropping....I have cut into it and it is reddish around the outside and has a small white core...it looks like a fruit? It does not have a smell...Does anyone know what these are? Do I need to get rid of them? Are they normal? They are not green or papery like some of the other posts. They are hard and solid...
Thanks for any info!!!

Those are galls, a typical occurrence in oak trees, caused by an insect. There are many different types.

Take a look in the library and you'll find a lot of information about galls.
