virginia creeper spreading too much

How do I keep virginia creeper from spreading all over my yard? I keep pulling it up when I find it. Is this the only way to control it?

I have it growing over a metal frame that used to be a swing set. the mockingbirds love it. They build nests in it and have babies and eat the berries. So I don't want to kill the whole thing.

Now what to do.

Don't worry about killing it off, I don't think that is possible. I've been trying to kill mine off for a decade now. :roll:
