I know that except for the weeping effect, weeping and standard yaupons are supposed to be the same. If this is true, why don't the cedar waxwings (or any other bird for that matter) eat the berries on the weeping varieties The city's horticulturalist and myself have noticed this is true on every one in Huntsville.
Just an observance. If anyone has any insight, it would be appreciated.
My thought is that landing and perching on a weeping tree is harder and given the amount of easily accessible berries these birds have available to them, why work harder.
I got to see and handle one of these birds after it lost its match with a window. What a glorious bird. The feathers always looked like hair to me and they feel like it also.
