I think I have seen some posts on this already but wanted to get a clearer idea of it.

Anyway, I had started a compost pile in a low area of my yard (not intentionally) and as time has gone by the bottom of it is extremely soggy and wet, even during these last few extremely hot months.

I am thinking about redoing it and adding some bricks to the bottom to raise the level so that it will not be so low. It will be about 2-3 inches about the water line this time. I know that since it will not be sitting directly on the ground that earthworms will have a hard time reaching it but it is all that I can do.

So, here is my question..........should I completely begin anew? Should I just throw away the soggy stuff? After adding the bricks, can I just toss it more and dry things out?

Compost can always be redone and recycled!

Just add more browns to it and less watering. Let nature have its way with it. Don't rush it. Let the natural aerobic microbes and earthworms do their job in purifying and breaking down the organic matter into the good stuff we call mature compost.

Compost is ready when it is dark, not smelly, not warm, mostly homogenous, and crumbly. Then start using it!
