I bought some Grape Tomatos for the Fall.

Why didn't someone tell me they grow just like grape vines?

Standard cage won't do it. I've got them trying to find all kinds of thing to cling to for support; trees, fences...etc.

They have a great taste and make great mouth poppers.

Any suggestions on how to support them for next time I plant.

I have never done this but I am thinking you could get a 16 foot cattle panel with the 6x6 inch openings. Bend it in a half circle and grow the tomatoes over it. They might even hang down for easy picking. You could call it the tunnel of tomatoes.
They are about $25.00 in Dallas and they last forever.

Something cheaper & easier to cut - handle is concrete reinforcing wire. You can get it about 6' wide by 20 to 40' long in a roll at Lowes or Home depot. Cut it to make the diameter you need. Best I can remember is the the holes are 6*6".

Good add, the wire is less expensive and cuts easily. I make all my tomato cages out of it. I don't know if Zipper can use a whole roll.
The cattle panel looks nicer, is very sturdy and doesn't rust. If you bend it into an arc you don't have to cut it. When the season is over you can easily store it. I wish I could find a creative way to store my 30+ round tomato cages.
I guess Zipper has a couple of ideas to think about.

The way these plants grow is goofy.

Single stalk which looks like the leg of a Praying Mantus and the one in the tree is now over 6' tall.

Anything I use for support will take a lot of tie-offs.

The only thing I can add is that next time you may want to do some research on a new plant before you buy it.
