Dirt Doctor Weekly Newsletter: Schefflera – Easy to Propagate Plant
Many plants are easy to propagate into new plants, but I discovered one of the easiest in an unusual way. We had a big schefflera indoors that got too big. It was moved outside and forgotten about. Before the ouster and abuse, I had pruned it back. As a lark, I put one of the cut off stems in a bud vase with water. The photo shows that it has rooted and has been doing well now for over a year! And this was in a low light hallway.
It reminded me that plants are normally easy to grow if they are just given a chance. The two most common problems I see on indoor plants is too much water and too much fertilizer. Low light is another regular culprit.
My Schefflera cutting is an unusual case. Most plants like a good organic potting soil, water after getting dry and mild fertilizers occasionally. Here is a link for more information on this plant. Schefflera
