I've a single bin with a good bunch of ENC,. In he last couple of days I've found a lot of small black ants they don't bite me But I don't think they are doing a lot of good for the worms. I'm wondering IF DE will affect the worms and get rid of ants.
I could put a lid with a mixture on Boric acid & Sugar but I'm wondering if this will the worms.

You might want to try:
- increase the moisture content of your bin
-spread diamotaceous earth around the outside of your bin
-place double sided tape around your bin

Good luck, let us know what you do!

good for you, Notto!

If you continue to have a problem, I have read that you can place your bin (up on bricks or something so you can still get air flow underneath) within a tray of mineral oil. So the ants would have to travel across that to get to your bin. In other parts of the country, they put a system above a tray of water--here in Texas that water would allow mosquito larvae.

glad you are solving the issue.

You can measure the density of the acid/water mix with a hydrometer - looks like a turkey baster with some ball bearings stuck in side.
