I don't want to replace my turf. My ST. Augustine grass blades in some areas are turning yellow and dying. It appears that it is spreading. Can someone tell me what I should do, what I should use to stop this, or who I should phone or call in to research the problem?

What is your normal watering, mowing, fertilizing routine?

Turning yellow is one thing, dying is another.

Dig up 1 square foot of turf in the dead part. If you see more than a dozen grubs about the size of your thumb, then you have a grub problem. If you see less, then you have a fungus problem. Well, I suppose you could have chinch bugs, but fungus is easier to treat and will not hurt anything. The cure for most turf fungus is ordinary corn meal applied at 20 pounds per 1,000 square feet. If you want to go ahead and treat for bugs, too, I like the Guardian brand of beneficial nematodes from Colorado. Sorry I don't have the website handy.
