Armadillo's are digging up my lawn. How do I get rid of them?

Well...you could be like my mother was - and keep a loaded 410 single-shot rifle at the side of her dining room chair. Whenever she saw an armadillo bumble out to the front yard, she would excuse herself from the table, pick up the rifle, aim and shoot it. Effective? Yes - but then, this was out in the country about one humdred years ago, when I was young.
I have heard that moth balls on the perimeter of the yard deter armadillos; and I have heard that large amounts of pipe tobacco also deter armadillos. The only other for-sure deterrent is to keep large dogs on patrol..

I lay down chili powder where they dig. This is great if they only dig behind your bushes. If they dig in your lawn then chili powder will not look very attractive. The chili powder has to be reapplied every so often and if it rains.
Another trick I do is to put 2x4 wood behind the bushes where they dig. Again, this is not useful if they dig in your lawn.
Another idea is to get your local animal control people to lend you a trap so you can catch them and relocate them. Armadillos will go to the same spot night after night until the food supply (mainly grubs) is gone.

My front flower bed has been attacked twice this week...Monday and again this morning. I'm going to put down some moth balls and see if I can at least run them off to a neighbors.

One neighbor says she fought these in her old neighborhood...they tried all that have been suggested here and nothing worked.

Another neighbor has traps out...seems the armadillos don't like them and/or can't find them but finds his yard and flowerbeds..

These small animals are really distructive and it amazes me that there is nothing you can do to get rid of them...except shooting them. I wish I was up when they are, I might try that!

I just pour it diluted 1/2 & 1/2 with water. I do not pour in close to any shurbs or plants themselves several inches away. Mostly just along borders of flowerbeds and foundation of house.

My large dog has no luck getting rid of armadillos. He follows along behind them barking his head off and they just won't run - the poor guy gets very frustrated!
