..we cut the roses to the ground?

We just discovered yesterday that we have 60-80 roses infected with this virus. Most are knockouts and the rest are David Austins. Howard Garrett says to cut out the infected cane and apply the remedy, but what if multiple canes are affected? Can I bag the plants and then cut them all down to the ground, apply the remedy to what's left of the plant and the soil - really soak it all - and hope that works? Many homes in our neighborhood are affected. Also, my soil is very good. Do I still need to do the amendments? I feel like we have to do whatever we are going to do this weekend. Thank you for your insight!

Since I 1) don't grow any roses and 2) this is such a hot topic right now, I strongly urge you to call Howard on his program this week. Sunday mornings from 8am - 11am on 660am, 866-444-3478. The earlier the better, to get it out there and let any others with more questions respond and ask other questions during the program.

There are links here in the library of organic information about rose rosette, but with all of the news and all of the apparent destruction of beds of roses, this is a timely question and should go out over the radio. Please do call.
