sorry to post on your topic, but I have a question for garlic mike. Mike I have some ojo rojo garlic planted and they seem to be almost ready. I've pulled about a third of them because they were starting to fall over and the foliage had browned up more than 1/2 of the plants. I have several other varieties that are just starting to brown at the tips (marbled purple stripe metechi variety). The metechi started sending up scapes about 2 weeks ago and I clipped them off of about 1/2 of them, the rest I'm going to leave to see how they differ at harvest. I just heard your discussion with Howard about the ones you cut the scapes off of were busting out of the skins, so I need to check the ones I cut the scapes off to see what's up. I'm worried about leaving the ojo rojo in the ground too long since we are supposed to have a lot of rain this week. The ones I pulled had good size bulbs, but none had the red color so wasn't sure if they needed some more time to color up? thx Tar
