I found this site that may be handy for people who prefer natural cleaning methods:

1,001 Uses for White Distilled Vinegar

Here are some of the ways that you can use vinegar for cleaning

Quote:
To shine chrome sink fixtures that have a lime buildup, use a paste made of 2 tablespoons salt and 1 teaspoon white distilled vinegar.

Make your own scouring cleanser by combining 1/4 cup baking soda with 1 tablespoon liquid detergent. Add just enough white distilled vinegar to give it a thick but creamy texture.

Clean counter tops and make them smell sweet again with a cloth soaked in undiluted white distilled vinegar.

Clean and deodorize a drain by pouring in 1 cup baking soda, then one cup hot white distilled vinegar. Let this sit for 5 minutes or so, then run hot water down the drain.

I pour a cup of white vinegar into the empty dishwasher and then run it through a cycle to clean out the inside of the machine.

I use an electric kettle to heat water for tea, and it gets a calcium buildup inside after many uses. I pour maybe 1/2 cup into kettle and fill it up to the full line with water and let it boil a couple of times. It removes that crust on the inside. I pour out the water and run fresh water through a heating cycle and pour it out and the vinegar smell is gone.

I pour a cup in the washer and run it through a wash cycle to clean out the inside of the tub.

I use some vinegar in water (couple of tablespoons to a gallon, I just eyeball it when I pour it in) to wash windows. Use newsprint to dry the window and it won't leave streaks. (This was my mother's trick - using vinegar goes back a long way!)
