I would love to get rid of these Flying Ants. I don't know where they are comming from but, they are really enjoying taking a dip in my pool. I know for sure they are Flying Ants and not Termites. HELP!!!!!!

I don't have a pool or a doodle bug problem but I'll give a suggestion. If garlic/pepper spray doesn't control bugs, try one of the new plant oil sprays. I've heard that they work on almost all bugs. As far as flying ants, you would have to find out where they are coming from. A misting system using safe natural products might work. Maybe others can reply & help.

Can you try to describe what these ants look like and I would be glad to help you figure out where they are coming from.

Boy I hate it when there is a thunderstorm. It seems to stir up the flying ants and when i want to relax in the pool there they are in their bug rafts drinking a bug-lite. So I tried this on a whim, and it worked. Get a plant spray bottle, put 3 table spoons of cider vinegar in it, then 3 table spoons of palmolive liquid( or any dish liguid) one table spoon of lemon juice. add water. Spray around the pool and on the little clusters of the ants floating in your pool. They die immediately and then when you turn on "the returns" and the swimming pool crawler, they are scooped away then you can enjoy your pool. You may have to reapply after the initial application one day later, but afterwards no problem.

Ray, I only see the ants in the pool, not around it. Do you mean spray the surface of the water, does all that soap cause a problem? Scooping them out seems to work. Do you know of anything I can broadcast in the yard for rollie pollies. They are everywhere and 100-200 on the bottom of the pool every morning. Never seen so many in my life.

Rusty spray it on the water at first. You will have to do it about three times with intrevals of about 30 min a piece, depending on the infestation. Around the area of the pool use orange oil, lemon juice, and green tea mixed in a sparay bottle. Spray early in the morning and again at sunset so the area absorbs it. You will notice a difference in a day. After a thunderstorm, re apply. rollie Pollies i can't help you with. I have crawdads in my yard:). They are not really a nusiance.

There are probably plenty of ant nests swarming on any given day. The reason the ants swarm -- the drones try to mate with the queen and then the drones die. They seem to "fall" out of the sky. I have the same problem with my pool occasionally.

The only suggestion I have is to try to keep your yard as ant free as possible and skim, skim, skim, skim. You can't do anything about neighbors ant nests......
