Early last year I added a stone pathway to our backyard in order minimize wear on the turf. I razed the st. augustine, put in some edging, laid the stones and filled in the spaces with shredded cedar mulch. I'm not really happy with the mulch solution and I'd like to try planting some sort of low profile ground cover instead. Ideally I'd like something that will last all year or, failing that, at least spring through fall.

Any recommendations? All I can think of is "mini" monkey grass (whatever variety that is). Looking for options!

I had this link hidden somewhere in the deep dark recesses of my computer and found it: http://www.evergreennurseryinc.net/specific.htm
This lists specific groundcovers for specific situations. I hope it helps you to find what you are looking for.

If you are looking for a groundcover that can take the foot traffic, then check out stepables.com

Good luck!

I have used elfin thyme with pretty good results. Howard has been heard recommending Dichondra. I am going to try some this season. It likes partial to full shade, though.

I just picked up a pot of Elfin Thyme at Rohdes. Thanks for the conversation on the topic!
