Do you mean Ardisia? Have you tried googling Ardisia japonica?

What kind of information are you needing?

I guess so! The nursery called them Japanese Artesia -- I double checked to make sure.
Tell me about this Ardisia, please.

I don't know anything about it, I can look it up, just like you can. I think you're asking for community input, but we need to know why you're asking. Do you have some growing? What varieties? Are you preparing beds for it? Do you need specialized information on bed preparation? Or how to care for plants that are already in your yard? Are you planning a commercial enterprise growing this? You see - many directions an answer can go. Tell us more about why this plant is of interest to you, and tell us about the growing conditions in your yard. Sun, shade, soil type, amount of water, etc.

I am an individual organic person that is looking for new plants to go in a shaded to partly shaded are by my back storage shed. I found these plants at a nursery and I had never heard of them and they are not to be found in any of the Dirt Dr. sites or books.
Can you tell me what you know about them?!

Here is the USDA plant profile for the Ardisia japonica (marlberry)

There seems to be a Marlberry species with several varieties, so you might want to compare them and see which variety your local nursery is carrying. Gallery Images for Scientific Name = Ardisia

Under the simple heading of "Ardisia japonica" I find that all parts of the plants are poisonous. In general it is an evergreen shrub that grows 6-12 inches and it's hardy down to 15F. See Dave's Garden and Almost Eden Plants and Monrovia. One site says all parts of the plant are toxic, another says it has medicinal uses in Japan and China, and yet another said it didn't know the status.

I don't mean to be putting you off here, but once you know which plant in this group it is you have access to, then we should be able to tell you more. Meanwhile, take a look through the organic guides (http://www.dirtdoctor.com/Organic-Guides_vq1575.htm) and form an idea of what your soil needs as far as bed preparation before you plant.
