I'm in the midwest, Wisconsin. We are in a home next to a field (farming) and creek. This weed is popping up all over the place! Grows tall, has alternate leaves, yellow buds at the top (guessing it will flower if I let it).

**EDIT*** Adding pictures via Flickr

Can you photograph one of these weeds in place, show something next to it for scale, and then post it to an image hosting site? Link back from there and we'll see a much better version of it. Also, if you can pull one up and whether in a new photo or the same photo, let us see what the roots look like. And are these "open" or are is there another stage to let us see the open flower better?

To post a photo from somplace like photobucket or flickr, or one of the many other photo sites, use the {IMG}{/IMG} tags (use the straight brackets - I used curly so they wouldn't disappear - or use the image button at the top of the message body. Highlight the link to the photo you want to show then click that.) If you can keep it to about 8px - 1000px wide the page will be relatively readable (not scrolling sideways).

Good job! Now here's how you link them in. Choose the right size you want and right click over the photo. I choose "copy Image URL" in the dialog box. Post the resulting link where you want it, then select it and click on the IMG button above the message body on this page. If you try to select the photo address in the address bar at the top it won't display, you'll see that broken image symbol. I chose the medium size display from Flickr (very handy tool!)

Thanks for the help on posting! I hope someone can figure out what the heck this thing is :) They are popping up everywhere... wish they would flower so that I could get another picture of that.. I could probably figure it out myself if it flowered.

Right - we've only got the beginning of the puzzle. But there are members of the Dirt Doctor forum all over the place. And at least recognizing the plant family will help.

I see you got the hang of posting those images. Good job!
