That should do it. What does it cost per gallon?

There isn't a David's anywhere near me - for the price of gas to drive way out of town I would be better off buying the expensive stuff at the feed store. I wrote to the Fleischmann's folks and hope they'll be able to give me an answer about where to buy it in Fort Worth, and perhaps they will be inspired to make their web pages a bit more helpful for finding their products.

I drove down to Aledo today to the David's supermarket and they didn't have my 10% vinegar like they used to. I called a couple of other stores and they didn't have it either. I'm going to have to research this and see if I can get a local store to order it. It would be great if they'd keep it in stock. I'll report back when I find a good source that doesn't cost an arm and a leg like the feed stores charge.

I'm with you brother (sister?). I've been at it all day tyrying to track a source for 10% or undiluted vinegar and I'd have better luck finding a UFO. Can't believe we're the only two people looking for this.

Sister. :)

This is my plan (if I get a moment to put it into play): I am going to stop at the Kroger on my way home and speak to the grocery manager. I have a photo of the front of my last bottle of pickling vinegar, and I am going to ask them to order it. And if they will, and keep it in stock, I'll tell them that I'll make a point of promoting that location as a good source. I'm in SW Fort Worth and I regularly pass by a Kroger in Arlington so I can actually try either one of them or both and see if someone responds to my request.

Last time I looked at the price of vinegar in the feed store they had 5% for twice the grocery store price and 20% at way over the grocery store price. Now if someone will just carry it at the grocery store price where it is easy to find, I'll be happy!

Appreciate your reply. I haven't thought to have a store manager pull out a catalog to see if he could ORDER what I want. I'll try that.

My understanding of the 20% stuff is that it's chemically derived acetic acid for industrial use. I don't think they're going to mash apples to make plastic. And even if they told me it was the same thing as cider vinegar I probably wouldn't believe them :o)

Just wanted you to know I haven't given up the quest. Mizkan America www.mizkan.com makes food grade 10% vinegar. Got a quote on bulk product @ $100/55 gallons and will try to narrow down other sizes or companies that rebottle and retail the product. I suspect that the other products like Ozark come from the same or similar sources. Did find a feed store in Ft. Worth that had 10% agricultural vinegar for $40/gallon plus $25 to ship it. It was either a typo or they're insane (or they don't plan to sell any).

I can find vinegar in the feed store in Fort Worth - right now no 10%, just 5 and 20. It's just so darned expensive! More than double what the grocery store sells it for. I think Fleischmanns makes the majority of vinegar and sells it under various labels. A while back I tried contacting them and didn't get anywhere, but maybe it's time to try that route. I just want 1 gallon jugs, four the to the case, for about $10 a case.
