I would like to find out what all those different plants growing in my lawn are. Can someone recommend a good book or web site that has color photos of weeds that I can use for identification?

Ok, maybe that was too much to ask. Is there ANY resource that can be used to identify weeds or is this information that people are just born with and I am missing that gene :?:

Try this one: www.wildflower.org
I have found quite a few there; it's the wildflower center.
I've had luck there.

Howards new book has a whole section on Texas weeds. Pictures, problems, and how to control.

Thanks for the help everybody. I think I'll buy Howard's new book, I don't have any organic gardening books yet. I just decided to go organic about a month ago.

I have lived in Austin for three years and I have never visited the Wildflower Center  I'll be sure to check it out this year.

Kathe... thanks... Great site!! And, from there, a flower selection can lead one here: http://www.itis.usda.gov/

At that site, one can select the Google Image link at the top of the page and see all the possible permutations. I wish a few of had this last summer as we were trying figure out what that d@mn aster "weed" was that was creeping in our lawns !
