I am sodding the front yard with St. Augustine this weekend. Should I put down corn meal gluten in addition to compost before laying the sod? We've removed the first couple of inches of soil - it was mostly weeds and some Bermuda grass. The front yard is shadey. Should I use corn meal gluten after putting the sod down? If so, how soon?

I would just lay the sod solid and then fight the weeds if they come up through the new sod...

as they appear, just pull them... they should come out easy...

if you start to see lots of weeds, just mow them down and they will never get to the seed producing stage..
