Me again!

I'm trying to find a source for organic hay in the Hill Country. I want to use it as a mulch in my veggies, so I don't want the run-of-the-mill pesticide-laden Coastal Bermuda. Any suggestions? Thanks a million!

Smiles,
Eric

If you can't find anything guaranteed to be organic, use alfalfa. Alfalfa hay can't stand herbicides, so it will be safe to use. Other options would be to use cedar or hardwood mulches. Do not use pine!

KHWOZ is right on the mark about alfalfa hay. If you find it to be too expensive, ask the farmers who sell it if you can clean out their barn after they have sold out of the hay or ask if they have any bales that got wet and will sell at a reduced price. You still get the same benefit.
