When you say "decomposed granite", do you really just mean powdered or pulverized granite?

Granite is a mineral rock, not plant or animal remains. It can't rot or decompose. Granite is a great potassium mineral source.

If you can't find it, try another economical or free source of potassium and other micronutrients. Decomposed wood products are perfect.

Hey Captain, you need to come out and visit the land of decomposed granite. Apparently acids get into the natural fault lines of solid granite and weaken it so it breaks apart. In fact it breaks down into rubble flakes ranging in size from slightly larger than sand down to dust. It makes a nice base for a walkway but it is a pain of you happen to live on a DG hill. Hard to dig into.

Living Earth Technologies bags the product and variants you're looking for. They are in the Lowe's stores under one of their brand names (can't recall it right now...is it EarthWays??? something like that). Look for the manufacturer and it will say either Living Earth Technologies or LETCO. Good stuff all around!

I have found this product at Northhaven Gardens in Dallas - it is called "Soil Conditioner" and the company name is "designer dirt"..it is a little pricey at first glance, but when i saw that it only had to be applied once, the price made a lot more sense. I love the stuff and what it was to Dallas Black Gumbo Clay dirt...

I go to Weatherford Gardens on a regular basis and have never noticed it. Do you use it the same as you would lava sand or greensand?

Weatherford Gardens just started carrying it lately. They have it in small bags & can get you the larger bags. It can be used in many ways. In driveways, it stays put & looks great. Howard recommends it for homemade soil mix. So basically, yes, use like lava or green sand. I use it in my succulent soil mix. There is supposed to be a gravel company over by Willow Park feed that sells it by the ton; haven't checked it yet.

I'm not aware of a feed store in Willow Park. Where is it? Is the gravel company you are referring to Clear Fork Materials? I also noticed a new place right off the interstate that is selling stone. Maybe that's it?

They are located off Hwy 20 in Hudson Oaks (go figure) which is west of Willow Park. Use the Anetta/Mickus (spelling ?) exit from either direction and get on the north side access road. Go west, it is about 1/4 mile on right. The owner, David is very knowledgeable and has very reasonable prices. By the way, he sells our soap :D - try some! Clear Fork might be the place, I don't remember - sorry. If you find out, let us/me know.
