I read in another post that if you had a problem with crabgrass last summer you can do CGM now.

I did CGM in my St. Augustine in February. I have also put down alot of humate/alfalfa product as well as a manure based fertilizer recently.

I ordered 2 shakers of that CRABGRASS ALERT stuff. Haven't gotten it yet. Do I need to CGM again? Am I putting too much stuff in the grass?

Early February is a good time for the cgm application, it will prevent new crabgrass form germinating. You're not putting too much in the soil if you do it in a balanced fashion, as it appears that you are doing.

You don't need the Crabgrass Alert UNLESS you have crabgrass. It will not prevent it from coming. Otherwise, you're probaby overdoing it a little with both the alfalfa and the manure based products on the back of the CGM. If you use them at half the suggested rate you should be fine. The CGM was a good base for the spring and should carry you all the way through spring without the other stuff. There should be no harm done, except to your wallet.
