I live in Austin. I fertilized in March and am wondering when I should do it again. The FAQ said to fertilize once in the spring, none in the summer, and once in the fall. In the "I'm totally new to the 'organic program..." post, Dchall said he fertilizes 4 times a year. I believe I saw that Kathe Kitchens fertilizes twice a year, like the FAQ said. What months should I shoot for to fertilize?

jkvest,

The nice thing about organic fertilizers and the organic program, there is not really a bad time to fertilize. As you have already noticed, there are a variety of ideas regarding the frequency (2/3/4 times per year). I don't get the need for fertilizing 4 times per year, but that's just me. I think the goal of going organic is to reduce the amount of maintenance in the form of fertilization. As far as months, IMO the key fertilization periods would be Spring (Feb - think Valentines Day, or Mar) and Fall (Sept - Labor Day, or Oct - Halloween). If you want to add a third, pick a date in June or July - 4th.

Very helpful! Thanks! That is kinda what I was thinking of doing so it's good to hear that someone else is doing it.
