Does anyone know how much sun elephant ears can take? I have some in my back yard that gets mostly morning sun, but I have a place in the front that I think they would look great, but it gets a lot more sun. Thanks.

It is my experience that they will burn in the North Texas afternoon sun. I have tried everything but the ones that I have in the early morning sun thrive and the ones with the west sun just try and hang on no matter how good I treat them.

That's kind of what I thought. The front of my house faces the southwest and used to get full afternoon blazing sun, but some of my trees are actually starting to grow and produce "shade" and so I am thinking by next year I might be able to get by with putting the elephant ears up there. I have not found any good small flowering shrubs or periennials that seem to want to work in this one place, so I think I will give the "ears" a go at it. After all, what's one more failure that has to be replaced the following year.
