We have Bermuda, our neighbor to the west has Bermuda/Augustine combo and the neighbor west of that has Augustine.

I should say we HAD Bermuda. The Augustine has choked out the Bermuda on the west side of our house and is now invading other areas of our lawn, including the east side. We have pulled and dug to no avail. Is there anything we can put on the Augustine that will kill it?

Thanks
Sandra

Probably the simplest way is to mow everything that is Bermuda, and that you want to keep bermuda from 1/2" to 1" (at the highest). I am able to keep the Bermuda St. Augustine balance that I want using this method.

The same thing happened to me. I used to stress about it until I realized my St Aug has zero weeds and my Bermuda has lots of weeds. Now I encourage the take-over. I mow my Bermuda very low and my St Aug very high. In the boundary area I mow high so as to encourage the St Aug. I've been thinking about adding St Aug sod in spots to hasten the invasion, but that would look funny and complicate mowing.

The first rule of gardening is to grow well adapted plants for your area. In your area St Aug is apparently better adapted.
