I have a white fungus ringing the base of my Bradford Pear tree. Needless to say, the tree isn't doing well this year. This fungus is not powdery or cottony. It is like a mushroom texture. I have tried the baking soda and water mixture, which beads up and rolls off. It did not work. I will try the Potassium Bicarbonate, then the corn meal, Neem oil, then orange oil. Which is best? Any other suggestions would be helpful. I searched other questions looking for help.

That will appear when there's organic matter in the compost process. I would check the depth that you planted the tree (expose the root flare) and treat it with Howard sick tree treatment that can be found on this website.

Thanks for the info! Tree is planted well according to Dirt Doctor specs. Flare is visible. In fact, the fungus is actually on the flare part. I will re-review the sick tree treatment. Should I expect the fungus to go away quickly?
