All of the leaves on our 10 year old japanese red maple have suddenly, within two days, turned brown. We use only organic methods so no chemicals have been used on or around it. We don't know if perhaps it had just gotten too much rain during June (we live in Richardson) or we are not watering enough. There are no visible signs of insect infestation and we have made sure that the dirt is not high around the root ball. I have already sprinkled about 2 cups of cornmeal mixed with sugar from the drip line inward and poured about 5 gallons of Garret Juice in the same area. Any other ideas?

Are the branches and twigs dying back as well?

What is the sun exposure like for this tree? Keep in mind we just went form largely cloudy weather to very bright sunshine rather quickly when the weather changed abruptly.

twigs are still green when scraped.

Sun is filtered through large ash tree

Another red maple in full sun in another area of the yard is still ok

I would check the soil around it- see if there's a tangible difference in moisture between its location and that of the other Japanese Maple. Then I'd areate the soil to try and boost the root zone's access to oxygen.
