House sparrows and starlings can sometimes take over a bird feeder. Here are a couple of suggestions for controlling them.

Shorten or remove perches on tube feeders.

Safflower is popular with cardinals but avoided by these two species.

Suet is popular with many species but not the favorite of house sparrows.

Use an upside down suet feeder if starlings are the problem.
