In a previous post about growing pecan trees ENT mentioned broadcasting horticultural corn meal. Is that the same as corn gluten?
If you wanted to broadcast the recommended doses of corn gluten, lava sand and molasses what is the prescribed amount for each?
One more.
If you want to plant a tree that needs good drainage and you're planting in
Dallas clay can you add sand or lava sand to the hole you're planting in?

So many questions ...so little time. I'm new to this whole deal and I really want my trees to flourish. Up to now I never really thought much about it, I just let them grow on their own.

There are basically four different corn meals mentioned; Horticultural, Corn Gluten, Whole Ground & grocery store cornmeal. They are all different!
Most of the lawn & garden amendments are broadcast at 20# per 1,000 sq. ft.
Do not put anything into the tree hole except the dirt you dug out. If you put amendments into the hole, you create a pot in the ground & the roots will tend to stay in this "pot". You want the roots out in the yard which you can amend from the top of the soil or by core aerating. Do a search on these forums & ck the home page for more info.
If you are planting a pecan, it can stand wet soil fairly well.
