A couple of years ago my brother loaned me his Canon 10D camera and a monster 600 mm auto-everything lens. So far, he has not asked for it back so I have been putting it to use. The gear is much better than I am, but despite my limitations I have been able to capture some nice bird images.

Each week I'll post an image of a different bird, with a little about the bird. I'll mix backyard birds with more exotic species.

This week's featured bird is the Great Egret, photographed in breeding plumage on the Texas coast.

Terrific photos! Thank you very much for a wonderful new feature. Can't wait for the next edition. I will let everyone know about it on the show this week end.
