A neighbor said that where I live (Saginaw, Eagle Mountain Lake area) that this used to been a cotton farmfield. She said the farmers would either spray something or fertilize with something to the cottons. Well, the "stuff" (I think she said weed n feed ) they used is the reason that some trees not doing well here, today.
That's what happened to my shumard red oak. I planted in 2001 . In 2002 , it grow very fast. It was beautiful. In 2003, the leaves yellowed bit. Every year since then it grew(more correctly, ungrew) worse and worse until its half dead.Today I cut it down and planted a bur oak.
If you look around, a lot of new trees look aweful.

So, does anybody, know the history of cotton in the metroplex and other crop and what they used?
