My neighbor has what I call a trumpet vine growing on his side of our fence. This vine is taking over not only the wooden fence between our yards, but I now have it coming up in different places within my back yard and in and around my shed.

How do you kill the silly thing?

To describe it, this vine has three or four inch long orange trumpets that the hummingbirds love but I don't.

oh we know it all too well. I lived with it all my life. The last house we lived in for 15 years had it all over the place. I used to come up in all of my vegetable beds. It sends runners under ground and from there... I can give you no hope. This has been discussed here before and I do not believe there's any way to completely rid your yard of it. When I worked at a nursery, I often talked people out of buying it and steered them to other, less invasive vines.

You have to excavate the roots at every location you see it. Keep after it, but if your neighbor doesn't do the same, you may as well do nothing.

I seem to have succeeded :? and didn't mean to!!
my neighbor dug up a huge rootball of trumpet vine and we have a 1000 foot driveway/easement that I would like to "hide" the view from. I have left the thing growing in a pot, and it is dying back all of a sudden, very quickly, and I can't figure out why!
Too hot maybe? with this in mind, perhaps burning the roots with one of those propane weeders would work?
I am verrrrry new so take my advice with big grains of salt!
And if anyone can figure out to keep my vine alive til I finish the trellis for it, lemme know!
