Has anyone tried making a raised vegetable garden with straw bales? I have and it worked quite well, but this summer we did have to replace a couple of the bales.

Instead of using boards etc to raise the beds, we made a 16x4 interior bed with all the bales around the edge. They retained moisture and kept the garden cool in the summer (rather than concrete etc.)
