I went on the Heard Museum Christmas Count recently. More Harris's Sparrows and White-crowned Sparrows that I have have seen in the past couple of years.

I haven't checked the numbers in the past few weeks but this is a colder than average winter with a lot of nasty storms, I'm assuming that we'll see some unusual migration patterns as a result.

Would that I could check weather.com and say "Ok, screw it, here's my number in South America and I'll see you in April!"

Heading south sounds like a plan. I'll make it as far as the Space Coast Birding Festival near Cape Canaveral in late January.
