What is a "correct" amount of sulfur to apply to a horrible clay lawn? What happens if you put down too much? Can it burn it or kill the grass? Umm...asking for no reason in particular...

I suppose the correct amount is whatever the soil test people told you. Guessing at changing the soil pH is not recommended.

People following an organic program seldom have a problem with clay, sulfur, or pH.

People like me who have a new yard full of sub-soil (bends shovels) have to do something. Howard is the one who told me to do it when I showed him this hunk of cement, not a soil test. However, I don't remember how much he said, and I just realized that my husband didn't ask when he put down the sulfur. You'll see my question again on Garden Web's forum too. I am planning on a huge post of my problem, but this was just the first thought.
