Hi,

I'm trying to reduce my carbon foot print in every way. Right now I'm growing organic tomatoes. but the weeds are disturbing a lot. Is there any real organic way to kill weeds or, natural way?

Vinegar spray is what kills plants. Vinegar drench feeds plants. The vinegar is just a very low pH source of carbohydrates to the soil microbes.

Fleshy weeds can be killed, I find, by trimming off the leaves than piling salt on the cut stems. Curiously enough, salt was much used in Victorian gardens as a fertiliser to boost plant growth. William Cobbett advocated laying three tons of it per garden! But then a gentleman's garden in those days was several acres. So much salt in today's modest gardens would sterilise the soil.

A proven way to kill bindweed, horsetail (Equisetem arvens) and other perennials is to cut the tops off and shroud the stem in a plastic bag of strong brine. The plant takes in the salt and dies. This is impractical for a field full of perennial weeds, of course, but it works in a flower garden to eliminate invasive vines.
