For the last couple weeks, I have gone out to my rose garden in the morning to find that some critter has been digging at the root balls and making a mess. Whatever it is, it's digging holes at the roots, but only at the rose bushes.

I'm fairly new to North Texas - and the weather has been unseasonable dry in my area (Frisco) - so I'm wondering if armadillos or other creatures are using "unusual methods" to get food and water.

Any ideas to identify what critter might me digging at my roses? How can I control this problem?

Until you know what the critter is, it might be hard to tell how to control it.
